Nintendo was founded in 1889 as Nintendo Karuta by craftsman Fusajiro Yamauchi and originally produced handmade hanafuda playing cards.The company entered the video game industry in the late 1970s and launched the first generation of home game consoles, FC, in 1983.

Game Boy and Super Nintendo (1989-1995)
Nintendo released the Game Boy in 1989. In North America, the Game Boy was bundled with the popular third-party game Tetris after a difficult negotiation process with Elektronorgtechnica.
The Game Boy sold very well and is still one of the best-selling handheld game consoles, and 1989 was also the year of Nintendo's 100th year and the release of the "Super Nintendo", the offspring of the FC console.
